From human origins to contemporary San life. A compelling story told in three thought-provoking buildings. The !Khwa Ttu San Culture and Education Centre is a celebration of the First Nation of our country, the hunter-gatherers who lived year thousands of years before any other culture.

Housed in restored farm buildings and an impressive architecturally designed museum that not only compliments the landscape but also the content, this museum is a must for every visitor in the Western Cape.

The tree aspects that the museum deals with are:

- First People: San origins stories and art, alongside the latest archaeological and genetic findings about human origins.

- Encounters:The difficult story of colonisation and brings San history up to date with contemporary community displays.

-Way of the San: An immersive building that takes you to the heart of San life in the Kalahari. Your San guide will introduce you to the knowledge and skills of some of the world’s last hunter-gatherers.

Enjoy hunter-gatherer faire at the restaurant that focuses on locally resourced produce, or make it even more memorable and sleep in the tented accommodation or elegant farm cottage. Just between Darling and Yzerfontein in the West Coast, it is the perfect stop-over.

Experiences and Tours that are on offer include:

  • Tea Tasting -  the veld pharmacy
  • First People – food from our forefathers
  • Encounters – when cultures collide
  • Way of the San – spirit, hunting and gathering
  • Tracking – reading the signs
