The calm waters of the beautiful Knysna Lagoon are ideal for beginners and experienced paaddlers alike. This is a fantastic way to explore the interesting town of Knysna from a different perspective.
Knysna Lagoon is actually an estuary, providing valuable nutrients to the ecology of the coastline. The lagoon is a water sport haven.
The best way too see the lagoon is with an experienced guide in a good quality boat. Wilderness Systems Tsunami 140 sit-in Sea Kayaks are being utilised for all tours, which are very stable, efficient, and a joy to use. Your guides are experienced waterman and will instruct you on how to paddle and to get your boat moving efficiently.
Depending on the state of the tides and currents and the predicted weather on the day, the kayak trips are either going up the Knysna River or to the Knysna Heads. The view from the water of the Knysna Heads is spectacular, a visit to Featherbed Beach is a must, and you can often see small schools of fish and the odd Stingray when paddling through the shallows. The local resident seal has been known to pop his head up every now and then.
